Chupp's Piano Service has become the preferred choice of many concert pianists as well as universities and other professional facilities.
Many times, buying a rebuilt piano is a significantly better deal than buying a new piano. Rebuilt, or refinished, pianos are typically up to 40% cheaper than new pianos. Many professional would argue that pianos built before World War II are better than pianos made today. These pre-WWII pianos are referred to as "vintage" pianos.
When buying a vintage piano (see our vintage steinways) you must watch out for a few potential hazards. The definition of rebuilt (amount of work actually done on the piano and associated quality) varies quite a lot. Some pianos that had poor tone in the first place are not improved by rebuilding. Look out for:
- strings
- pinblock
- soundboard
- repair/replacement in action
- and refinishing
If you are willing to spend the time learning about piano repair and refinishing and have a good ear and a trusted piano technician, you can do well.
At Chupp's Piano Service, we have sold over 200 vintage Steinway pianos and we offer unsurpassed quality workmanship to satisfy even the most discriminating artist.
