Steinway & Sons Model A-III Parlor Grand Piano | Fully Rebuilt – Satin Ebony Finish #196020

Steinway Model A-3 Grand Pianos are considered to be some of the finest grand pianos ever manufactured. Steinway & Sons Model A3 #196020 was built at the New York Steinway factory in 1919. This ‘golden age’ Steinway grand piano has been fully restored and rebuilt by our expert piano technicians. The Steinway Model A was first introduced in 1878. These parlor grand pianos produce a sound full of power and they have a wonderful, wide tonal range. The large Steinway Model A-III grand is no longer being produced and as such, they are harder to find than the smaller A-1 and A-2. [Reliable rumors indicate that the A-III was discontinued due to it competing with the more expensive Model B.]

The Model A-III was only produced from 1913 to 1946 and they measure 6’4 1/2″ in length, larger than Model A-II Grand Pianos currently produced today. This piano has been refinished in a beautiful closed pore lacquer that has been hand rubbed to a rich satin luster. This premium process creates a beautiful and vibrant sheen. The action has been fully rebuilt with the highest quality parts and it has undergone extensive action regulation and concert level tone regulation. This painstaking process is essential to bringing out the iconic, Steinway quality tone. The Steinway A-III is very comparable to the Model B in its power and broad tonal range. It has become the preferred scale design of many technicians and pianists. A new solid spruce soundboard and a custom fitted pinblock have been installed. The nickel hardware has been re-plated and new German Kluge style keytops have been installed. The cast iron plate has been refinished to a brilliant, golden sheen and it has been expertly hand lettered.

This piano is a wonderful example of premium Steinway quality, both as an instrument and as a piece of art. Steinway & Sons quality was very high when this piano was built and we continue that tradition of expert work and quality craftsmanship.
