1889 Steinway  Model C Concert Grand Piano #68881 – Quarter Sawn Oak

This rare, vintage Steinway & Sons Model C Semi Concert Grand Piano was manufactured at the Steinway & Sons factory in New York in 1889. This historic and very rare 88 note piano is in a Victorian style case design. Measuring an impressive 7’5″ in length this Model C is much larger than the popular Model B grand piano. It features the impressive Steinway range of tone expected from a piano of this size. The veneer on this instrument is Quarter Sawn oak and the grain pattern is clear and distinctive. We will refinish this piano in an amazingly clear, hand rubbed lacquer finish.

Model C pianos were dubbed a ‘semi concert grand’ or ‘small concert grand’ by Steinway & Sons. First manufactured between 1878 and 1905, the Steinway Model Cs continued to be produced in smaller, custom requested runs between 1906 and 1936. It is quite rare to find a Model C in concert ready condition. This Steinway Model C with its Victorian styling, rare Quarter Sawn oak veneer and true Steinway tone is sure to be the musical centerpiece of any venue it is placed in! (Also pictured is a finished Steinway Model B, showing what the finished veneer will look like.) This piano is currently in the process of being fully rebuilt by the expert piano technicians here at Chupp’s Pianos.
