Description

Steinway Model L Grand Piano #226709 | Satin Ebony – Refurbished – 1924

Steinway & Sons Model L Grand Pianos were first manufactured in 1923. Introduced as a replacement for the very similar Steinway Model O, Model L Grands continue to be very popular in both home and professional settings. Steinway Model L #226709 was built in 1924 at the New York Steinway Factory. These 5′ 10 1/2″ grand pianos feature a square tail design which allows for greater soundboard area near the rear of the instrument. This ‘golden era’ vintage Steinway has been refurbished by us to ensure a great playing experience. The original Steinway soundboard is in good overall condition with minor hairline cracks. It is tight against the supporting ribs with no buzzing. The action had been rebuilt sometime in the past with new hammers, shanks and flanges. The genuine Steinway hammers are in very good condition. The action has been adjusted and regulated by our piano technicians. The piano had been restrung and the strings still produce a clear tone. Tuning pins are tight, allowing for a stable tuning. The cabinet was refinished sometime in the past and is in fairly good condition with shallow crazing throughout.

We do our best to offer as many options as possible to those looking to purchase a Steinway & Sons Grand Piano. This instrument is perfect for any pianist who is seeking the high quality and performance of a genuine Steinway Grand piano at an affordable price. [Steinway #226709 is one of the better ‘Ready to Restore’ pianos we currently have in stock.] This instrument is very playable and usable as is but it would benefit from some rebuilding work. The extensiveness of this work can be tailored to fit your specific budget and needs. Below is a list of restoration work available as options to you. “…in the end I got a beautifully restored Steinway with the gorgeous tone I was expecting and unfortunately not hearing when playing brand new Steinways at other stores. I have had two technicians play the piano, and both were astounded at the excellent workmanship put into this instrument. I have gotten so much joy out of this piano after just 3 months of owning it, and if/when it is time to upgrade to a larger model, I will undoubtedly be returning to Chupp’s.”
