Steinway & Sons Model M Grand Piano | Satin Ebony – #227953 – 1924

Since its introduction in 1911, the 5’7″ Model M has been one of the most popular grand pianos ever produced by Steinway & Sons. Built with a balance of size and performance in mind, these grand pianos are often a primary choice for those seeking a Steinway & Sons instrument for home or select institutional use.

Built in 1924, Steinway Model M #227953 is currently in the final stages of the full rebuilding process. The piano’s action will be fully rebuilt with finest quality select parts. This includes new German Renner wippens and new ‘golden era style’ hammers, shanks and flanges. Original ivory keytops have been retained and restored to a like new luster. The action will undergo extensive regulation and voicing to allow for a full, high-quality Steinway level touch and tone. New premium German music wire and custom copper wound bass strings have been coiled to blued tuning pins. These have been driven into a new custom fitted pinblock. A new close-grained, solid spruce, custom manufactured soundboard has been installed. This allows for the highest stability and quality of tone.

Re-bronzed and hand lettered, the cast iron plate looks ‘better than new.’ The cabinet is currently in the original walnut and you have the choice of either refinishing in walnut or in an ebony finish. It will look beautiful when combined with the restored original nickel hardware. Once complete, this golden age Steinway grand will fully embody the traits expected of a world-class grand piano.

Our piano rebuilding process is tailored with the primary focus being the performance of the piano as a musical instrument, capable of supporting the artistry of any pianist, amateur or professional. We have specialized in Steinway piano restoration for over four decades and continue to advance the high level of craftsmanship that was once standard during the ‘golden age’ of piano quality. Currently undergoing the final stages of the full rebuilding process, we are confident that this Steinway & Sons piano will be one of the finest Model M Grands available today.
