Steinway & Sons Model M Grand Piano #312643 | Satin Ebony – Restored

Steinway & Sons Model M Grand Piano #312643 was completed in 1942 at the New York Steinway factory. Built during the final days of the ‘golden era’ of piano manufacturing, this 5’7″ instrument has undergone an extensive restoration process to return the piano to its rightful, concert-ready status. Steinway Model M Grands are one of the most popular models of pianos ever built by the famed company. Their compact size combined with a beautiful tone makes them a great choice for those seeking the legendary and exclusive quality of a Steinway instrument.

This has been fully restored by the expert piano rebuilders at Chupp’s Piano Service. The factory original ivory keytops and ebony sharps have been retained, restored and polished. The action will undergo careful regulation and concert voicing to bring out a full, rich Steinway quality of tone and touch. It has been rebuilt with new German Renner wippens and new premium hammers, shanks, and flanges. New premium Mapes international gold music wire and custom soft copper wound bass strings were installed to new blued Diamond tuning pins from Klinke of Germany.

Optimum Stability – Vintage Quality

The original Steinway factory spruce soundboard is in immaculate condition with no rib separations. The board and bridges have been sealed and refinished utilizing our proven restoration methods to provide many more decades of pure tone. The original quarter sawn hard rock maple pinblock has been retained and restored for top stability.

The cast iron plate was re-bronzed and the raised lettering hand detailed. The plate is floated to ensure proper down bearing. The cabinet has been refinished in a closed pore, hand rubbed satin ebony. A brass Steinway & Sons logo decal has been affixed to the fallboard and the original brass hardware has been polished to a brushed satin to match the rich lacquered cabinet. This piano is as beautiful looking as it will sound! Restoration work was recently completed and the piano was sold to a local client.
