Steinway & Sons Model O Grand Piano | Satin Ebony #203696 – 1920

Built in 1920 at the New York Steinway & Sons Factory, Model O #203696 measures 5’10 1/2″ in length. Currently dubbed a ‘Living Room Grand’ by Steinway, these instruments were first introduced in 1900 with the original scale designed by Henry Ziegler. This size of piano is very popular in both homes and institutions. New York production of this particular model was halted for a period in favor of the Model L, however, it was recently reintroduced by Steinway New York in 2005. Rebuilt Model O Grands are fine instruments with a wonderful tone and a light and controllable action.

This beautiful ‘golden era’ Steinway features a square arm ‘modern’ case design and octagonal spade legs. The cabinet has been expertly refinished and hand rubbed to a beautiful satin ebony sheen. [Click here to learn more about our refinishing process.] New genuine Steinway & Sons action parts have been installed including hammers, shanks and flanges. The action has been expertly regulated by our piano technicians. The action has been weighed off to Steinway specifications which ensures a light, responsive keyboard. Expert tone regulation/voicing has been completed resulting in a rich, Steinway quality of tone. This entire section of the piano restoration process is crucial to the performance of the piano.

The original ivory keytops have been restored and polished by our ivory restorer to a like new shine. A new solid spruce soundboard has been installed as well as a new custom fitted pinblock. This results in optimum stability and the highest quality of tone.

Model O [and L] Steinway Grand Pianos are very popular due to their blend of manageable size and high performance.  The tone of this instrument is true ‘Steinway’ and is what pianists around the world have come to expect from an instrument bearing the family name. This vintage instrument is of top concert quality and is your chance to purchase a ‘golden era’ Steinway grand piano for a fraction of the cost of a new Steinway Model O. Quality was at its peak during the pre-WWII era at Steinway and we are proud to carry on that tradition of quality and craftsmanship. Restored Steinway Model O #203696 is a wonderful piano and is sure to provide you with musical enjoyment for numerous years to come.
