Steinway & Sons Model M Grand Piano | Satin Ebony – #227953 – 1924
Since its introduction in 1911, the 5’7″ Model M has been one of the most popular grand pianos ever produced by Steinway & Sons. Built with a balance of size and performance in mind, these grand pianos are often a primary choice for those seeking a Steinway & Sons instrument for home or select institutional use.
Built in 1924, Steinway Model M #227953 has been fully rebuilt to top concert standards. The piano’s action has been rebuilt with the finest quality select parts. This includes new German Renner wippens and new ‘golden era style’ hammers, shanks and flanges. Original ivory keytops have been retained and restored to a like-new luster. The ebony sharps have been expertly sanded and polished to restore their subtle grain pattern. The action has undergone extensive regulation and voicing to allow for a full, high-quality Steinway level touch and tone. New premium German music wire and custom copper wound bass strings have been coiled to blued tuning pins. These have been driven into a new custom fitted pinblock. A new close-grained, solid spruce, custom manufactured soundboard has been installed. This allows for the highest stability and quality of tone.
Re-bronzed and hand-lettered, the cast iron plate looks ‘better than new.’ The cabinet has been refinished in a rich satin ebony and is beautiful when combined with the restored original nickel hardware. Fully restored, this golden age Steinway grand will fully embody the traits expected of a world-class grand piano.
