1921 Steinway Model A-3 Grand Piano #205470 – Satin Ebony – Restored
The Steinway & Sons Model A-3 is one of the most coveted instruments in the historic Steinway Grand Piano family. Measuring approx. 6′ 4 1/2″ in length, the Model A, Style III is longer than the Model A, Style II that is currently manufactured. Out of all of the grand pianos ever crafted by Steinway & Sons, the Model A-3 is our favorite scale design! When rebuilt and properly regulated and voiced, these powerful instruments are on par with even the best Steinway Model B Grands. Steinway Model A-3 #205470 was manufactured in 1921 at the New York-based Steinway & Sons Factory. This golden era grand piano has been fully rebuilt and is now offered for your careful consideration.
The piano’s action has been fully rebuilt with all new action parts. German Renner wippens are combined with new Renner Blue Point hammers and new shanks and flanges for high responsiveness and tonal performance. The original keysticks have been restored and recapped with new premium keytops. A new damper backaction has been installed and regulated. The action has been fully regulated, voiced and weighed off by our expert piano technicians. This process has created a piano that boasts a rich, deep bass section and an overall quality of tone that sings with much power and musicality! The touch is smooth and controllable – placing this parlor instrument on par with the very best concert grands.
New premium music wire and custom copper wound bass strings are coiled to blued Klinke tuning pins. A new hard maple pinblock provides optimum tuning stability and a new solid spruce soundboard has been fitted in order to produce the finest quality of tone. The backbone of the piano, the cast iron plate, has been expertly re-bronzed. The raised plate lettering has been hand detailed. The cabinet has been refinished in a rich, satin ebony lacquer. Hand rubbed to the proper sheen, the finish is accented by the original re-plated nickel hardware. A new fallboard logo decal has been affixed to the front of the cabinet.
We are confident that this instrument is suitable for any institution, performance venue or pianist.Contact us for additional information
