1935 Steinway & Sons Model S Baby Grand Piano | #283068 – Walnut
To this day, the Steinway & Sons Model S occupies a unique place amongst the line-up of Steinway Grands. Measuring 5’1″ in length, these miniature grand pianos are based on the scale of its slightly larger sister, the Model M. These instruments are often chosen by pianists looking to fit a high-quality instrument into tight spaces. Steinway & Sons Model S #283068 was built in 1935, the very first year of Steinway Model S production. This instrument is in all-original, excellent condition. This instrument features a beautiful walnut cabinet finished in its original semi-satin sheen with solid brass hardware. The cabinet has some minor sun fading from natural use on its rarely seen ‘straight-side’, at the bass end of the keyboard. The original solid spruce soundboard is in pristine condition and the original hard-maple pinblock holds the blued tuning pins tightly for a stable tune. The piano’s action has been expertly regulated and voiced to ensure a responsive touch and a full, Steinway quality of tone. The piano’s original key sticks feature restored, original ivory keytops and ebony sharps. You may be surprised by the ‘punch’ this small piano possesses!
