In 1880 Steinway & Sons founded their factory in Hamburg, Germany to help satisfy the demand for their pianos in the European market. This unique factory arrangement has allowed Steinway to craft pianos with very specific characteristics. Hamburg Steinway pianos are noted for many times having lusher, slightly warmer tone, well suited to those looking for a combination between tradition Steinway and tradition European tone. Many pianists have come to adore the amazing German craftsmanship and unique tone that these Hamburg Steinways embody.

Historic Art Case Design | Stunning Performance

This extremely rare and magnificent Hamburg Steinway Model D Concert Grand Piano is in exotic Brazilian Rosewood. Built in 1914 at the height of Steinway’s golden era, this grand piano is an amazing piece of history and a stunning musical instrument. Every aspect of this piano was gone through to ensure top responsiveness and the highest quality of tone. A new solid spruce soundboard, custom fitted pinblock and new German music wire and tuning pins were installed. The action was fully rebuilt and finely regulated utilizing the finest German Renner wippens and genuine Hamburg Steinway factory hammers, shanks and flanges. An accomplished pianist recently played this piano and marveled at the great dynamic range of tone that is strong and clear. He noted that the action is extremely responsive and commented on the wonderful expressiveness of this instrument. The entire range of the keyboard is simply astounding.

The Genuine Steinway & Sons Hamburg factory hammers bring out the wonderful tonal nuances unique to the best Hamburg Steinway & Sons concert grand pianos. The action has been fully regulated and expert tone regulation has been performed.
