Chupp’s Pianos secures “dream piano” for Kenosha, Wisconsin resident
Chupp’s Piano Service recently had the privilege of working with Mr. John Kuehl of Kenosha, Wisconsin. John had been searching for his dream piano, a Steinway & Sons Model B built during the early 20th century. We were fortunate to have an instrument that fit his specific needs and are happy to say that this piano now resides in his Wisconsin home. He was kind enough to write the following letter of endorsement, detailing his experience.
“I am neither a professional concert artist nor a music professor but a serious amateur pianist who has devoted a great deal of his life to practicing and playing for the sheer enjoyment of it. Since retiring from a business career, I decided to make it my goal to become as much of a virtuoso as I am able and this pursuit would require the finest instrument I could obtain. My ideal was to find a Depression era Steinway model B as I believe the company built its best pianos at that time.
After having researched the many fine rebuilders around the country. I called Dennis Chupp, a fellow Midwesterner, and shared with him my dream piano. As luck would have it, Dennis had just taken possession of a 1931 Steinway B and described its great potential to me. Based on Dennis’s expertise and reputation, I bought the piano sight unseen. What a good decision that turned out to be.
Dennis and his son Tim were with me every step of the way throughout the seven month rebuilding process sending photos of each major milestone. A magnificent Steinway B was delivered to my home two weeks and I could not be more pleased with its elegant look, tone and touch. The legacy of craftsmanship, honesty and tradition begun in New York by the Steinways lives on in New Paris, Indiana with the Chupps. They have earned my highest recommendation.”
