1915 Steinway Model A-3 Grand Piano #170293| Satin Ebony – Restored
Steinway & Sons has created and crafted many well-loved pianos over their long and storied history. The Model A-III ‘Stretch A’ is (in our opinion) one of the finest they ever produced. Measuring approx. 6′ 4 1/2″ in length, the Model A, Style III is longer than the Model A, Style II that is currently manufactured.
Crafted for only a select number of years during the ‘golden age’ of piano manufacturing, this piano is a powerful, yet equally delicate instrument. When rebuilt, properly regulated, and voiced, these powerful pianos are on par with even the best Steinway Model B Grands. Our extensive piano rebuilding process brings out the best that these iconic instruments can be and ensures a true Steinway level of tone and touch.
Leaving the factory in 1915, New York Steinway Model A-III #170293 has been expertly rebuilt and stands ready for your consideration. This instrument is in a traditional square arm style cabinet resting on tapered, spade legs. The cabinet has been expertly refinished in a hand-rubbed, satin ebony lacquer and boasts restored nickel-plated hardware. The piano’s action has been fully rebuilt with all new action parts. New German Renner wippens, along with genuine Steinway & Sons shanks, and flanges featuring with Steinway & Sons factory hammers are combined for high responsiveness and excellent tonal performance. The piano features a new damper back action. The original keysticks have been restored and recapped with new premium keytops. The action has been fully regulated, voiced, and weighed off. This process has created a piano that boasts a rich, deep bass section and an overall quality of tone that sings with much power and musicality!
New premium music wire and custom copper wound bass strings are coiled to blued Klinke tuning pins. A new hard maple pinblock provides optimum tuning stability and a new solid spruce soundboard has been fitted to produce the finest tone. The backbone of the piano, the cast iron plate, has been expertly re-bronzed. The raised plate lettering has been hand detailed. We are confident that this instrument is suitable for any institution, performance venue, or pianist.
