1984 Steinway & Sons Model B Grand Piano #490551 – Satin Ebony – Excellent
First introduced in 1878, the Steinway & Sons Model B has a rich history as the world’s ‘perfect’ piano. Often selected by professionals and amateurs alike, the Steinway Model B is firmly at home in both institutional and personal use. The length of these ‘parlor’ grand pianos offers them a wonderful balance between manageable size and concert-quality performance. Weighing an impressive 760 pounds these pianos boast a large soundboard area for a full, powerful sound – yet they do not take up as much room as a larger Semi-Concert C or Concert Model D. Crafted in 1984 at the New York Steinway Factory, Steinway Model B #490551 is in fantastic condition and is a beautiful example of lasting Steinway quality.In excellent condition, the traditional square-arm cabinet is finished in a rich satin ebony lacquer. The instrument rests on spade style legs that terminate in solid brass casters. The classic contrast of the ebony cabinet with rich brass hardware is a combination that goes with virtually any decor. This instrument underwent a recent restoration by a Steinway & Sons dealer. The piano’s action has been refreshed and rebuilt with new genuine New York Steinway action parts. This includes new Steinway hammers, shanks, flanges, and wippens. Expertly regulated and voiced, this piano boasts the wonderfully responsive touch and powerful tone that aficionados have come to expect from concert-level Steinway pianos. New music wire and bass strings have been installed along with new damper felts affixed to the original damper heads. The original solid spruce soundboard is in pristine condition and a new hard maple pinblock grips the nickel-plated tuning pins for a stable tune. This piano includes our three-year used piano warranty and includes a matching Jansen Artists Bench.
