1984 Steinway & Sons Model B Grand Piano | Polished Ebony – #489161
Measuring just under seven feet in length, Steinway & Sons Model B Grand Pianos have grown to become beloved the world over. Some even call it the ‘perfect piano’ due to the beautifully balanced performance a ‘seven-foot’ piano provides. Steinway Model B Grands are selected by professional and amateur pianists alike as their personal practice pianos. It is not uncommon to see these pianos gracing concert stages as well! These instruments were first introduced in 1878 and production has been consistent since that date at both the Hamburg and New York Steinway Factories.Upon our standard, initial inspection of any piano chosen for restoration, we found that the piano had actually received a new action! A few years ago, the entire action was replaced with a full, genuine German Renner action. (Renner has long made action parts for coveted Hamburg Steinways, and is the company is now owned by Steinway Musical Instruments.) It is evident that the new action received very little use after its installation. This action is in virtually like-new condition and has been fully regulated and voiced by our expert piano technicians. The piano’s damper back-action has been restored and the damper heads have been refinished with new damper felts affixed.
The original Steinway Factory spruce soundboard has been expertly retained and restored and the original hard maple pinblock holds the new, blued tuning pins tightly and securely for a stable tune. Expertly regulated and voiced, this piano boasts the wonderfully responsive touch and powerful tone that aficionados have come to expect from concert-level Steinway pianos. The massive cast iron plate, the backbone of the piano, has been expertly re-bronzed and hand-lettered. The original hardware has been restored and a matching fallboard logo decal has been embedded into the lacquer. Combining visual beauty with an awe-inspiring quality of tone, this Steinway Model B truly lives up to the nickname of ‘the perfect piano.’
