1984 Steinway & Sons Model B Grand Piano | Satin Walnut – #489161

Measuring just under seven feet in length, Steinway & Sons Model B Grand Pianos have grown to become beloved the world over. Some even call it the ‘perfect piano’ due to the beautifully balanced performance a ‘seven-foot’ piano provides. Steinway Model B Grands are selected by professional and amateur pianists alike as their personal practice pianos. It is not uncommon to see these pianos gracing concert stages as well! These instruments were first introduced in 1878 and production has been consistent since that date at both the Hamburg and New York Steinway Factories.

Steinway Model B #489161 was built in 1984 at the Steinway & Sons Factory in New York. This instrument is in excellent condition and was purchased new by its one and only owner. The original purchaser met with John H. Steinway and he signed the plate of the piano himself. The original purchaser also took a photo with Mr. Steinway, and has entrusted us with that photo to present to the next owner of this Model B. The piano’s cabinet is finished in a natural walnut and has been hand-rubbed to a satin sheen. The cabinet is in a typical American style with squared-off cabinet arms and tapered, spade legs terminating in solid brass casters. The piano’s action is actually new! Approx. two years ago, the entire action was replaced with a full, genuine Renner action. (Renner has long made action parts for coveted Hamburg Steinways, and is the company is now owned by Steinway Musical Instruments.) This action is in like-new condition and has been fully regulated and voiced by our expert piano technicians. The original Steinway Factory spruce soundboard is in excellent, like-new condition and the original hard maple pinblock holds the tuning pins tightly and securely for a stable tune.
