Steinway & Sons Model A-3 Grand Piano #214713 – Polished Ebony Polyester Finish – Undergoing Restoration

The Steinway Model A, Style III Grand Piano measures 6’4 1/2″ in length, substantially longer than the currently produced Model A-2. Out of all of the pianos built by Steinway, the A-3 is our favorite scale design.When properly rebuilt and regulated, these pianos are on par with even the best Steinway Model B Grands. Steinway Model A-3 #214713 was built in 1922 at the New York Steinway & Sons Factory. This piano is currently undergoing a full restoration to return it to its full potential. The belly of the instrument will be fully rebuilt with a new solid spruce soundboard, new hard maple pinblock, new strings and more. The action will receive a full rebuild with new wippens, hammers, shanks & flanges. Full action and tone regulation will be completed to provide the finest in responsiveness and quality of sound. Lastly, a luxurious high gloss ebony polyester finish will be applied – a rarity due to its high expense and labor intensiveness. We are confident that this instrument will be suitable for any institution, performance venue or pianist.

Photos show the piano in its pre-restoration state. When completed this piano will be in ‘better than new’ condition.
