1926 Steinway Model A-3 Grand Piano #247003| Mahogany – Excellent!
Steinway & Sons has created and crafted many well-loved pianos over their long and storied history. The Model A-III ‘Stretch A’ is (in our opinion) one of the finest they ever produced. Measuring approx. 6′ 4 1/2″ in length, the Model A, Style III is longer than the Model A, Style II that is currently manufactured.Crafted for only a select number of years during the ‘golden age’ of piano manufacturing, this piano is a powerful, yet equally delicate instrument. When rebuilt, properly regulated, and voiced, these powerful pianos are on par with even the best Steinway Model B Grands. Chupp’s Piano Service, Inc. is pleased to offer a selection of premium restored Steinway & Sons pianos – and this includes a number of Model A parlor grands. Our extensive regulation and voicing process brings out the best that these iconic instruments can be and ensures a true Steinway level of tone and touch.
Leaving the factory in 1926, New York Steinway Model A-III #247003 is a beautiful example of early 20th century piano craftsmanship. This instrument was restored in the early 2000s by Steve Schmidt and his business “The Piano People”, located in Champaign, IL. Steve was an expert of his craft and sadly passed away in 2018. This instrument is in a traditional square arm style cabinet resting on tapered, spade legs. A new full New York Steinway action was installed including new hammers, shanks and flanges. The piano’s original soundboard was repaired and retained. New strings were wound to new pins, which were driven into a new pinblock for a stable tune. The piano’s cabinet is veneered in a beautiful cut of flamed mahogany, representing the warmth and breadth of tone this vintage instrument can produce. Our technicians have gone through this piano, conducting regulation and voicing to bring its singing voice back to full-force. We offer this instrument to you today at our New Paris, Indiana showroom.
